For decades, the vehicle dismantling sector in the state of Rio de Janeiro had faced a reality marked by informality, a lack of traceability and a strong association with criminal practices, such as car theft and robbery. Both Detran RJ and the Public Security Department were looking for an effective way to monitor this sector and curb the illegal trade in parts. The lack of a suitable technological tool prevented effective control of the activities of the so-called "junkyards", which made inspection difficult and encouraged clandestinity.

Challenges

  • Monitor the actions of all the junkyards in the state of Rio de Janeiro
  • Develop a solution capable of tracking vehicle parts from disassembly to sale
  • Establishing a digital, secure and customer-integrated business model

Solution

Through an outsourcing contract with the client's technology park, the Montreal team carried out a complete mapping of the sector's operational and legal processes. Based on this, the WebDesmonte system:

Public consultation and tracking of origin and destination of parts

Each registered item receives an individual label with a barcode and QR Code

Direct access from the client's website

Native integration with the client's institutional portal

Online registration of companies in different segments

Dismantling motor vehicles; Recycling scrap metal; Recovering parts; and Trading parts.
