Rio International School (RIS) is an international school of excellence located on the shores of the Marapendi Lagoon in Barra da Tijuca (RJ). With audits and regulatory requirements based on international security standards, the institution was looking for a robust solution for the protection and integrated management of its campus.

In this context, Montreal proposed an electronic and virtual security model, made up of tools capable of monitoring routines and processes in real time, with a high degree of integration, scalability and capacity for continuous improvement.

Challenges

Implement a complete internal and external campus monitoring perimeter with data network coverage, so as to capture faces and license plates
Integrate student faces into the attendance system
Make the volume of accesses available in real time to the canteen system, in order to parameterize the volume of daily meals to be served
Sanitize the student image database and integrate data on dietary restrictions
Create business rules for the cafeteria to control facial access and inform each student of their restrictions at the time of service
Build a local data network capable of supporting both online and offline services (in the latter case for facial access check-in by doormen).
Unify multiple systems and apps: access control, LPR, cafeteria, registration, attendance, unauthorized person detection and call system

Network infrastructure

The field team carried out the network infrastructure, installing servers, routers, switches, NVRs, cameras (facial, LPR and speed dome) and facial readers, covering more than 20,000 m² of the campus.

Development of the Functional Prototype

The development team deployed a functional prototype to map processes and carry out continuous testing over 12 months.

Final Version Installed and Application Integrated into the Ecosystem

In February 2025, the installation of the final version of the tool began, with a registration and enrollment application fully integrated into the new RIS digital ecosystem.
