minutes of reading

O idNetBrasilor simply idNet, is Montreal's civil and criminal identification solution, created based on the successful experience of DETRAN-RJ's State Identification System (SEI).

The need to modernize civil identification systems - which issue identity cards - and criminal identification, has led some states to include technology in their systems. AFIS in their tenders. An opportunity arose and idNet was born.

Challenges

  • Lack of specific business knowledge - the initial structure was the DETRAN-RJ identification process;
  • Geographical distance between Montreal and the states, which at the time made it difficult to deal with clients;
  • Adaptation to different regionalized process characteristics;
  • Maintain a single solution that can be adapted to multiple states (clients).

Solution

O idNet is a complete identification solution that combines biographic and biometric search algorithms through the ABIS (Automated Biometric Identification System) - face, fingerprint and palmprint - and identification processes to guarantee the uniqueness of the citizen. The ABIS we use relies on Dermalog's AFIS to handle fingerprint, palmprint and facial ZFace integration. idNet is currently active in the states of Mato Grosso do Sul, Pernambuco and Roraima, and has already been implemented in Acre, Alagoas, Amazonas, Ceará and Piauí.

"Roraima is a pioneer in the Northern Region with the idNetBrasil identification solution, which uses automated biometrics (ABIS) to issue identity cards and combat crime. The efficiency of the system has reduced delivery times to 24 hours and increased public security, with faster identification of suspects and integration with other agencies. The solution also strengthens the fight against fraud and embezzlement, and integrates data with the global AFIS standard. The partnership with the Roraima Civil Police has been fundamental in increasing the accuracy of investigations and public services."
