Rio Innovation Week (RIW) is one of the largest technology and innovation events in Latin America. In 2023, the event's organizers approached Montreal with a complex challenge: to implement a solution that would combine real-time monitoring, on-site facial registration of participants and mapping of the flow of people, all within a high-traffic urban space - the warehouses of Rio de Janeiro's port quay.

The objective was clear: to guarantee security, control and strategic intelligence during the event, with total visibility of the perimeter and the generation of useful data for the present and for planning future editions.

Challenges

  • Monitor all the event's sheds and open areas in real time.
  • Carry out facial registration of participants quickly, securely and offline.
  • Create tools to search for people by facial recognition throughout the environment.
  • Generate heat maps and people counts by environment in real time.
  • Set up a local operations center capable of managing and reacting quickly to the event's movements.

Developed for tablets, allowing agile and secure facial registration by field staff.

Real-time analysis of the data collected, enabling rapid responses to events and incidents.

Heat Maps and Flow Analysis:


Dynamic generation of quantitative and qualitative maps, with segmentation by interest groups and behavioral profiles.

With the solution implemented by Montreal, it was possible to maintain 100% monitoring of the event in real time, and in an unprecedented way, the solution made it possible to generate a detailed virtual map of the flow of people by profile and interest groups. In the 2024 edition of the event, we also promoted a immersive 3D experience in CSI style, simulating forensic investigations based on AFIS/ABIS systems - technology applied by Montreal in public safety solutions.
